My Personal Thoughts on Stephen King's Novel "Misery"
Misery is a psychological horror novel published during the late 80s. And is written by a well known American author named Stephen King. He is known for his work like "The Shining", "It" and "Pet Sematary" many of this are then adapted into films.
The story begins with a freak road accident where the main character, Paul Sheldon stranded in a remote area. Which he was luckily rescued by an old lady, named Annie. Though he was luckily saved by Annie turns out the old lady has some psychological disorders.
The story then focuses on a lady whose old in age which claims to be his number one fan and clearly shows her huge obsession with a writer named Paul Sheldon. Paul Sheldon is a fictional writer who is well known for his novel "Misery". The dark turn begins when Annie (the obsessed fan) was upset by him killing off the main character in the latest "Misery" novel she was so upset infact that she forced Paul to rewrite it's ending and changed it to be a more "happier" ending.
Because of this she locked up Paul turning him into a captive, even though he has badly hurt from the accident.
The story explores Annie's psychotic behavior by brutally torturing Paul, which he was severely damage not only physically but also mentally. She also is responsible for a murder of a state trooper which saw the imprisoned Paul.
The novel describes each scene in a very detailed way. Which personally I really find nail-biting. I read this book during night time and funnily enough I always look at my window imaging Annie with her knife. I gave my compliments to Stephen King as this story really give me chills and make me be more interested to continue and turn another chapter as it is a thrilling story to experience.
